Towanda, KS – Circle Public Schools, in partnership with the Circle Recreation Commission, is excited to announce the hiring of its first Director, Tyler Sperry, and Assistant Director, Carson Mosier. Both bring extensive experience, passion, and a strong connection to the Circle community, which will drive the growth and success of the Circle Recreation programs.
Tyler Sperry – Director
Tyler Sperry joins the Circle Recreation Commission with over 15 years of experience in operations and business management within the dental and medical fields, managing teams of more than 25 employees. Additionally, Tyler has spent the past eight years as the Youth Director at The Benton Church, where he led lesson planning, mission trips, and youth development activities.
Tyler has a long history of involvement with Circle Rec, having volunteered as a coach for football, basketball, baseball, and softball for the past six years. He also served on the Circle Recreation Youth Football and Cheer Board for the past two years. Tyler's deep understanding of the organization and his leadership roles in youth sports make him a perfect fit for this new role. He is also the founder and President of the South Central Kansas American Association of Dental Office Managers (SCKSAADOM).
Tyler and his wife, Corinne, have been married for 16 years and live in Towanda with their two children, Zachary and Zoe, both students at Circle Benton Elementary School, where Corinne works as a teacher’s aide.
Carson Mosier – Assistant Director
Carson Mosier, a Circle High School graduate from the class of 2020, brings a fresh perspective and passion to the Circle Rec team. After high school, Carson went on to play tennis at Emporia State University, where he was a member of the tennis team for two years. He graduated in 2024 with a degree in Physical Education.
During his time at Emporia State, Carson honed his leadership skills by leading Bible studies and working with an on-campus ministry, Christian Challenge. Most recently, he organized and taught pickleball and tennis programs at local country clubs. His experience in these roles will prove invaluable as he develops new sports programs for Circle Rec, with a particular focus on tennis and pickleball. Carson is also a certified pickleball instructor and looks forward to expanding the program to engage participants of all ages.
Carson’s wife, Jessie, also a Circle and Emporia State graduate, is a first-grade teacher at Oil Hill Elementary this year.
Exciting Vision for Circle Recreation
Both Tyler and Carson are thrilled to build upon the strong foundation established by the many dedicated volunteers who have supported Circle Recreation for years. Tyler envisions fostering a sense of unity and belonging throughout the district by aligning the commission’s work with "The T-Bird Way." He believes in developing a thriving recreational program that extends beyond youth sports to provide opportunities for the entire community.
"Our goal for the first year is to learn from those who have volunteered so much time and effort into Circle Rec, while also expanding opportunities for both youth and community programs," says Tyler. "We want to ensure that our programming aligns with the highest levels of competition in our schools while helping build foundational athletes and citizens."
Carson shares this excitement, particularly for the potential to introduce new sports like pickleball, which he has seen bring communities together across age groups. "I’m eager to bring the skills and experiences I’ve gained through college athletics and teaching to Circle Rec," says Carson. "Tyler and I make a great team, and we’re ready to do everything we can to build this program."
Both Tyler and Carson are committed to working alongside the dedicated volunteers, coaches, and community members who have already made Circle Rec a valuable asset to the district. They look forward to fostering an inclusive and supportive environment that helps the district's youth and community thrive.
