Cristin Utt, a special education teacher at Circle High School, has shared an inspiring story about one of her students, Robert. Over the past three years, the football team has invited Robert to join them in pregame warm-ups. While this may seem like a small gesture, it has meant the world to him.
Robert is thrilled to jog down to the field before every home game, participate in warm-ups, and connect with his newfound friends. The players truly enjoy having him on the team and love creating fun memories together, such as spraying each other with water bottles. Robert cherishes the huddles that always end with his favorite words right before kickoff.
Mrs. Utt expressed her gratitude, along with that of many others, for the inclusive coaches and players. Their small act of kindness has made a significant difference for Robert and has fostered wonderful friendships.
Westin Rose, a senior player, was asked how Robert's involvement has changed his perspective on teamwork and community. He replied, "My views have opened to how football is much more than a game. It brings the town together and makes our community stronger. When our team can be a part of something bigger than ourselves and make a difference, that is what truly matters." Rose ended the interview by saying that Robert will always have a place on the football field.
