A note from Superintendent Don Potter:
All,
One of our many goals in the battle versus COVID-19 is to provide school and extracurricular activities for our students in a safe manner. In cooperation with several partners, we have developed guidelines to mitigate the risks of contracting and/or spreading COVID-19 while at school and events which are attached to this email. As a district, these guidelines are not fun to administer but something we must do to keep everyone safe as possible while continuing to provide educational opportunities for our kids. Here is the link for the guidelines: https://5il.co/lioa.
I have attended several of our events over the past few weeks and believe we all can do better. As a district we will do better by enforcing those guidelines and make necessary adjustments based on recent experiences in hosting activities. It is everyone’s responsibility to follow the guidelines as we try to continue to host these activities for our kids. All over the State schools are being shut down, games cancelled, individuals quarantined, and entire seasons being ruined. Although there is no guarantee, we need to make sure we do everything we can to avoid this occurring to our kids.
I beg and plead all staff, students, parents and community members to do our part in following all guidelines at home and away events. I am deeply concerned if guidelines are not followed we will miss part of our kids’ seasons as well as jeopardizing the opportunity to attend school where kids learn the best. We have an opportunity to THRIVE under our current conditions, but it is up to us to make sure it happens. We can do this but it will take all of us together taking this responsibility seriously. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.
