Tuesday, November 2nd, students will participate in Work-Based Learning opportunities as part of the College and Career Ready Program. This will result in an alternate schedule for the day while students participate in the following activities:
9th Grade--Pre-ACT
10th Grade--Essential Skills Workshop with Wichita Workforce
11th Grade--NCRC (National Career Readiness Certificate)
12th Grade--Job Shadow day or College Visit day
Seniors will not report to CHS, but directly to their job shadow or college visit.
All other students will report to the school & their assigned classrooms.
We believe some of the most important opportunities can be explored while in high school by participating in job shadowing & internships. The College & Career Ready Program helps students explore post-secondary options available after leaving Circle High School.
Internship opportunities will be available for students who have fulfilled requirements for the College & Career Ready Program. Two main requirements are successful completion of The Essential Skills Certificate (as Sophomores) and the NCRC (as Juniors).
The Essential Skills Certificate is a comprehensive job readiness workshop for young job seekers of working age that will help develop skills for employment. Topics covered include:
- Workplace Etiquette
- Money Handling
- Keys to Employment
- & Customer Service
The NCRC (National Career Readiness Certificate) is an assessment-based credential issued at four levels; Platinum, Gold, Silver, and Bronze. This assessment is for students entering college or the workforce after high school. The NCRC:
- Measures and certifies the essential work skills needed for success in jobs across industries and occupations.
- Builds confidence that your skills meet the needs of employers.
- Shows prospective employers concrete proof of the skills you have.
- Applies real-world use to coursework from the classroom.
- Determines skill improvement and training needs.
- Improves the opportunities for career changes and advancement.
- Helps earn college credit at many institutions and reach academic goals more quickly.
